The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is the first three-row MPV in the Nexa line-up and we already know that the Nexa platform is designed for offering comparatively premium models than the Arena outlets. So quite obviously, the XL6 is actually a more upmarket offering of the Ertiga. Now both models are identical under the skin and even the silhouette and layout are similar. That said, the XL6 gets a higher premium feel. Here are the highlights.

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is based on the Ertiga and comes with major design updates and all-new crossover-like styling. The biggest highlight is the new SUV-like front end featuring a new black hexagonal grille, flanked by a set of all-LED headlamps and C-shaped LED daytime running lamps. The car also gets a bold sculpted bumper with a wide airdam, new black cladding housing the round foglamps and silver skid plates. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 also gets black ORVMs with integrated indicators, black 15-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. The car also gets large roof rails, body cladding, and origami-inspired LED taillamps at the rear, all these as standard.

The cabin of the new Maruti Suzuki XL6 is largely similar to the Ertiga’s cabin, but this one features a new all-black interior with a stone grey finish for the dashboard with silver accents. While the top-spec Alpha trim comes with leather upholstery and leather-wrapped steering wheel, the Zeta variant gets fabric upholstery. Also, the XL6 comes with flat-bottom steering wheel and mounted controls for Bluetooth, Audio and cruise control. The XL6 will be offered only as a six-seater, with 2+2+2 layout, featuring captain seats in the second row. Furthermore, the car also comes with ample utility spaces, such as ventilated cup holders, an overhead console, accessory sockets in each row along with rear AC vents, cruise control. The car also gets automatic climate control, push-button start, keyless entry, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs. Also, the XL6 offers a boot space of 209 litres with all three rows up, which can be extended to 692 litres by folding down the second and third row.

Smartplay Studio 2.0 Infotainment


The Maruti suzuki XL6 gets the 7.0-inch Smartplay Studio 2.0 infotainment system.

The XL6 also comes with Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display. The system is completely integrated with the car displaying key vehicle information such as Low fuel alert, fuel economy etc. Furthermore, it also comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Navigation. The system also comes with a Smartplay Studio App, which offers additional features like remote control and live traffic updates.

Safety Features

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with several safety features like – dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock-braking system) with EBD (Electronic brake-force distribution), front seat belts with pre-tensioners and Force Limiters, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, high-speed warning alert, reverse parking sensors as a standard fitment across all variants. The car also gets ESP (electronic stability program) with hill hold function is offered in the automatic variants only.



The Maruti Suzuki XL6 gets the same BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine as the Ertiga making the same 103 bhp.


The XL6 is powered by the company’s 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild-hybrid technology, with Li-ion battery. The engine is tuned to churn out 103 bhp at 6000 rpm and develops a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4400 rpm and is tuned to deliver a good drive, both within and beyond the city. The XL6 is available in a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options.
